OJM often works with a client personally. We can be engaged by a client on one of the planning areas below, two or more in combination, or in an all-inclusive comprehensive engagement.
Personal Tax Reduction:
Review of the client’s present tax situation and personal tax returns by our tax team, led by our in-house CPA with 25+ years of tax experience. Suggestions made for both tax reduction and deferral.
Personal Asset Protection:
Analysis of each personal asset and explanation of its present state of exposure on the sliding scale of asset protection by our in-house advisor. Description of options and recommendations on how to better protect each asset, with pros/cons and costs/benefits of each alternative.
Personal Financial Planning:
Review of a client’s current cash flow, retirement benefits projections and cash flow modeling by one of our financial planners. Discussion of alternative methods of retirement funding. Analysis of present educational funding, if applicable, and recommendations on 529 plans and other funding methods.
Evaluation of current life, disability and long term care insurance policies, as well as property and casualty policies, such as homeowner’s, auto and personal umbrella policies. Comparison of existing policies to alternative products, with tax, asset protection, retirement, estate planning and wealth accumulation goals in mind.
Analysis of personal investments by our asset management team, including past performance, with a particular focus on asset allocation failures, current and expected future tax drag, management fees, and integration of personal investments with other planning areas.*
*The analyses do not include implementation of investment recommendations. OJM can be engaged to implement such recommendations/manage investments, though our asset management team.
OJM is not typically engaged solely for an estate planning analysis. We will, when engaged in a comprehensive analysis, incorporate an estate tax analysis for the client, including recommendations for estate tax reduction. We also maintain relationships with estate planning law firms in many states.
